Around the corner I have a friend, In this great city that has no end, Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face, For life is a swift and terrible race, He knows I like him just as well, As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then, And now we are busy, tired men. Tired of playing a foolish game, Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim Just to show that I'm thinking of him." But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away, "Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today." And that's what we get and deserve in the end. Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell them. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time It might be too late. Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, For they have helped make you the person that you are today.
Something from Denise via email. I don't really believe in the sending this thing to 10 people within the our thing, but I figure enough people read this blog for me to reach a 10 person quota if need be.

"I’m so tired but I can’t sleep Standin’ on the edge of something much too deep It’s funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word We are screaming inside, but we can’t be heard
But I will remember you Will you remember me? Don’t let your life pass you by Weep not for the memories" -- I Will Remember You (Sarah McLachlan)
After tonight, it's become one of those songs, there alongside Always, Sidewalks, 99 Red Balloons, Adam's Song, and Feels Like Home.
Probably because it was the prom of my graduating year, it was the best prom I've gone to for all these past four years. I think we all doubted the change from Delta to Crystal Fountain but all in all, it was really nice. Good food, good company, good music. Yes, despite the fact that I stray from dancing, I do pay attention to the music we dance to each year at prom and I liked the music this year better. The music was more like rock music you can dance to opposed to disco music you can dance to. Slow dance songs were well chosen... for the first time in what must be over 4 years, they did NOT play "Back At One" which for my tastes, was a good choice cause I don't really like that song. They did, however, continue the tradition of playing "All My Life" as one of them. But anyhow, it was fun. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the last 2 hours didn't drag on like they normally do. After prom was not really eventful, but fairly relaxing. Just chilled on Grant's patio with a bunch of graduates from last year.

"You and I in a little toy shop Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got Set them free at the break of dawn 'Til one by one, they were gone Back at base, bugs in the software Flash the message, "Something's out there" Floating in the summer sky 99 red balloons go by
99 red balloons floating in the summer sky Panic bells, it's red alert There's something here from somewhere else The war machine springs to life Opens up one eager eye Focusing it on the sky Where 99 red balloons go by
99 Decision Street, 99 ministers meet To worry, worry, super-scurry Call the troops out in a hurry This is what we've waited for This is it boys, this is war The president is on the line As 99 red balloons go by
99 Knights of the air Ride super-high-tech jet fighters Everyone's a Silverhero Everyone's a Captain Kirk With orders to identify To clarify and classify Scramble in the summer sky As 99 red balloons go by
99 dreams I have had In every one a red balloon It's all over and I'm standin' pretty In this dust that was a city If I could find a souvenier Just to prove the world was here... And here is a red balloon I think of you and let it go." -- 99 Red Balloons
As you can see, the English version rhymes fairly well while still maintaining the original meaning of the song; it's just a little less obvious. Go listen!

If you have some time for me Then I'll sing a song for you About 99 balloons On their way to the horizon Perhaps you think of me a bit Then I'll sing a song for you About 99 balloons And that something (like the war) comes from such a thing (the balloons)
99 balloons On their way to the horizon Seemed like UFOs from space So a general sent A flying squad out there To raise the alarm if it was true Yet there on the horizon were Only 99 balloons
99 jet hunters Each one was a great warrior Thought that they were Captain Kirk There were great fireworks The neighbors didn't understand anything And felt immediately felt "pissed off"/provoked Yet there they shot on the horizon At 99 balloons
99 war ministers Matches and petrol cans Thought that they were clever people Already smelled greasy loot Shouted: War, and wanted power Man, who would have thought That one day it would come to this Because of 99 balloons
99 years of war Don't leave a place for victors There are no ministers any more No jet engines either Today I'm doing my rounds Seeing the world lying in ruins Found a balloon Think of you and let it fly -- 99 (Red) Balloons
That is the direct translation from the German version... as you can see, it doesn't rhyme quite so eloquently as the actual English version, which does a good job at capturing the original meaning of the song while making the lyrics fit as well.

"'Well lad, whatever luck you go by, let's hope it lasts the night.' 'You're friends are with you Aragorn' 'Let's hope they last the night'" -- The Two Towers
Bwahaha, if you ever need a reason to watch the Lord Of The Rings, the dwarf is a funny guy.

"Love is like pizza, when it's good, it's really good. When it's bad, It's still pretty good." -- Anonymous
I don't know why I find this quote funny. Does anyone agree with it?

"It's too late to talk to you And it's too soon to say good-bye Listen wherever you may be You still live inside my mind
Something tells me that you are free again In a place that feels like home
It's never easy to understand Why memories hold our hand But people let go" -- Feels Like Home by No Use For A Name
This is a really nice song. Only a minute long so the lyrics posted above are actually the song in its entirety. Furthermore, it was sung to me! Bwahaha, I have now been sung to; check that off my list of things I want have happen in my life. Anyways, go listen!

I would highly recommend the SOTY CD.
